A Step-by-Step Tutorial for a full-face Flawless Makeup for beginners

Before diving into the step-by-step tutorial for a full-face makeup for beginners, it is important that we first familiarize with the full-face makeup products.

The products you need to know about.

Complexion products

  • PRIMER: Makeup primers are a gel, cream, or liquid formula that, when applied to your skin, fills in tiny wrinkles, enlarged pores, flaky patches, and bumpy textures, leaving nothing but a smooth surface for your makeup to glide over. Your makeup applies evenly, lasts longer, and does not appear cakey.
  • FOUNDATION: Foundation makeup serves as the foundation for your makeup look. It evens out your skin tone and minimizes discoloration because it is applied to your entire face in a shade that matches your skin. Foundation is available in liquid, cream, and powder forms and is designed to even out your skin tone and smooth over imperfections.
  • CONCEALER: Concealer is intended to provide additional coverage over specific areas such as dark circles, breakouts, acne scars, and so on. You can choose a concealer with a matte or dewy finish based on the appearance you want to achieve. Concealer is similar to foundation in that it covers up dark circles, age spots, blemishes, and other imperfections by concealing pigments and merging them into the skin.
  • HIGHLIGHTER: A highlighter is a type of face makeup that draws light, giving the appearance of brightness and height, giving the appearance of being lit from within.
  • CONTOUR: Contouring is a makeup trend that has taken makeup to a whole new level—for the better. This makeup technique entails the use of dark and light colours to augment or minimize the appearance of specific facial features. Contour colors always fade away, which means they add depth, whereas highlighter colors bring that light forward.
  • BLUSH AND BRONZE: Bronzer adds a natural, sun-kissed glow to your skin, highlighting and lifting your cheekbones and other attributes. Bronzers are available in liquids, lotions, and powders. Blush is used to add color to your cheeks and is available in liquid, powder, and cream formulas.
  • SETTING PRODUCTS: You have a few options for applying makeup. Setting powder sets and locks your look in place; finishing powder soothes fine lines and obscures pores for an airbrushed finish; and setting spray seals everything in with a dewy glow.

EYE PRODUCTS

  • EYESHADOW PRIMER: Eyeshadow primer is a liquid or cream-based product that is applied to the eyelids to help shadows and eyeliner apply smoothly and last longer. It acts as a double-sided tape, gripping both your lid and your eye makeup, making sure your perfectly applied shadow doesn't relent.
  • EYESHADOW: It is a colored cosmetic used to draw attention to the eyelids or the skin around the eyes. The colors are available in a variety of textures and shades, including matte, shimmering, and satin.
  • EYELINER: Eyeliner is a cosmetic that is used to define the eyes. It is applied to the eye's contours. It is frequently used to achieve a variety of aesthetic effects.
  • MASCARA: Mascara is a cosmetic product that is frequently used to enhance the upper and lower lashes. It is applied to the eyelashes to darken, thicken, lengthen, and/or define them.

EYEBROW PRODUCTS

  • EYEBROW GEL: An eyebrow gel in the form of mascara  is designed to soothe, tidy, and comb your brows. Corrects the shape of the brows.
  • EYEBROW PENCIL: Eyebrow pencils are products that are used to color the brows. They are used to define and fill in the brows. They have special ingredients that apply color precisely and controllably where it is needed.
  • EYEBROW POWDER: An eyebrow powder provides a very diffused wash of color, making it ideal for soft, shaded brows. It is perfect for filling in sparse spots.

 LIP PRODUCTS

  • LIP PRIMER: Lipstick primer acts as a foundation for lip color, allowing it to stay in place and lay uniformly on the lips while lessening feathering and creasing.
  • LIP PENCIL: It's designed to fill in any irregular regions on the outer edges of the lips before wearing lipstick to give them a more even shape. It's also used to line the lips, keeping lipstick in place and stopping it from bleeding.
  • LIPSTICK: Lipstick is a cosmetic product that is often made of wax and oil and is used to color and texture the lips. It comes in a variety of forms, including liquid lipstick and matte lipstick.
  • LIP GLOSS: It is a cosmetic product that adds shine and a little color to the lips. It could be a liquid or a solid that is easy to apply. Glosses are generally shiny, but they can also be glittery, opalescent, or metallic in addition to the shine.

STEPS FOR APPLYING MAKEUP FOR BEGINNERS

1. PREP YOUR SKIN

Cleanse your face gently with a gentle cleanser or use a cotton pad soaked in micellar water (skin-cleansing makeup remover) to remove impurities from your skin. Micellar water contains micelle molecules that attach to and break down makeup and debris. A cotton pad allows you to gently combat tightly lined areas without causing skin irritation.
TIPS
  1. Choose a cleanser suitable for your skin type: for dry skin use a cream cleanser, it will help to moisturize the skin. For Oily skin use a gel or foam cleanser, this will remove any dirt and oil from your skin without causing irritation. For sensitive skin use cleansers made from plant oils. For skin with acne use cleansers with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide.
  2. Don't scrub as this can remove the skin's natural protective barrier, instead massage gently in a circular motion with your fingertips for a minute or two.
  3. Use lukewarm water it helps open pores and lift dirt and bacteria from the skin.
  4. Wash your face twice a day, consider cleansing before, not after, the sun goes down.
  5. Avoid using harsh bar soap, bar soaps can change the pH balance of the skin, allowing bacteria and yeast to grow.
  6. cleanse your neck and jawline as well as they are prone to debris build up.
  7. Finish with a toner, toners are light liquid formulas that are used to reset the pH of your skin so that it could protect itself from bacteria and harm, for anti-aging use toner with rosewater and for acne use a toner with salicylic acid.

2. APPLY A LIGHT MOSTURIZER.

This will keep your skin from becoming overly oily during the day and will help moisturize any dry patches, allowing your foundation to apply smoothly. If you have oily skin, avoid skipping moisturizer in favor of a gel-based formula that absorbs quickly, hydrates, and does not make you shine.
TIPS
  1. Squeeze a little more than a pea sized amount into palm.
  2. Warm the moisturizer in your hands. Warming the product between your fingers and palms will ensure even application.
  3. Use gentle circular motions to apply to cheeks, forehead, chin and nose.
  4. If you have skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis, use a thicker cream moisturizer.
  5. Use a thinner cream with SPF for the day and a thicker cream for the night or opt for a cream that works for both
  6. Choose moisturizer based on your skin type, for normal skin (no oiliness, dryness or flakiness) use a water-based moisturizer
  7. For dry skin select a heavier oil-based moisturizer, with ceramide these are good at helping skin hold onto moisture.
  8. For oily skin use a light water-based moisturizer which will not clog your pores, choose with a label that says "oil free" and "non-comedogenic".
  9. For mature skin use oil-based moisturizers that contain antioxidants. Moisturizers containing antioxidants or alpha hydroxy acids can aid in the prevention of flaky skin. To seal in moisture and minimize the look of fine lines and wrinkles, use an oil-based product containing petroleum jelly.
  10. If you have acne, forgo moisturizers with pore-clogging additives such as petroleum jelly, cocoa butter, and coconut oil.

3. APPLY PRIMER

Primer should be applied in thin, sheer layers. The primer will begin to ball or pill if you use a heavy hand. Instead, apply a thin layer to your brow, cheeks, and chin. This will enable it to obscure and mattify in these areas, which are usually the oiliest.
TIPS
  1. Find one that works not only for your skin type but also for your foundation type. Water-based primers are ideal for dry and dehydrated skin because they last longer and look best on it. Silicone-based primers look a lot better on oily skin because the silicone forms a layer that prevents oil from penetrating.
  2. To avoid your primer and foundation repelling each other, choose a primer with the same base as your foundation. Check to see if the foundation contains silicone, as this can occasionally engage poorly with oil-based foundations and cause them to appear spotty.
  3. use primer sparingly just concentrate on your problems areas such as where your makeup tends to wear off and areas with larger pores, such as the t-zone.
  4. Pat the primer into your skin using your fingers, this activates it and allows it to sink into your body.  (Use your ring and middle finger)
  5. To keep your lipstick looking bold and from settling into fine lines around your mouth, apply a thin coat of primer over dry lips.
  6. Wait a few minutes before applying foundation to allow the primer to absorb.

4. APPLY FOUNDATION

Apply a few dots of foundation to your T-zone, paying special attention to your forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin. Then, using a foundation brush, blend it in. While a makeup sponge or even your fingers can be used, using a foundation brush is easy and quick, making it an excellent choice for newbies. Begin with a tiny amount of product and blend up and out to achieve a natural finish. Make sure to stretch it all the way down to your neck.
TIPS
  1. Choose a foundation shade that complements your skin tone if in doubt, choose a slightly lighter shade over a darker one, test the shades in natural light.
  2. Get two foundations: one for imperfections and one lighter shade to showcase your chin, cheekbones, and nose bridge.
  3. Most oil-free foundations oxidize and flip yellow or orange on oily skin over the course of the day, so try it out for a few hours before purchasing.
  4. Use a rounded foundation brush this type of brush allows you to buff the powder into your skin for an even blended finish. Tiny, fluffy artificial brushes are excellent for blending concealer over redness and flaws on the chin, forehead, and nostrils.
  5.  Apply foundation to your skin and blend it in with a damp sponge until it's completely blended.
  6.  Press a tissue on top to remove excess foundation.
  7. To avoid creasing, apply foundation first to smooth, unlined areas such as your cheeks. From there, blend away from crow's feet and smile lines.

5. CONCEAL

Concentrate on any areas you want to conceal, such as the under-eye area, the area around the nostrils, and any blemishes or dark spots. When it comes to concealing, it's important to dab rather than drag as this allows the product to saturate the area you're trying to cover.
TIPS
  1. Determine what you want to conceal and choose the right concealer, a green tinted concealer to reduce redness, yellow tinted concealer to brighten face, for a complexion with an uneven yellow tone use a lavender tinted concealer and to cover purple or dark spots use an orange or red tinted concealer.
  2. To get a true color match, test skin tone concealer on your face rather than your hands.
  3. If you have large pores and oily skin, you should avoid cream or stick concealers because they can make your pores appear larger. Instead, look for a liquid concealer.
  4. For acne, use a pencil concealer with a tipped edge to make it simpler to apply around the acne spots. Thicker, cream concealers, which can be moulded and blended over the blemish, are also effective.
  5. To lighten dark undereye circles, use a concealer with a radiant or luminizing formula.
  6. Instead of sweeping a semi-circle over the undereye discoloration, draw an inverted triangle to highlight the front of your face and create a lifted illusion.
  7. A crayon or pencil formula is ideal for a small scar; merely trace or fill in the mark with the sharp point. For larger scars, use a brush or your fingers to apply pot or cream concealer for the best blend.
  8. To remove excess oil or too-thick product, divide a tissue into two layers and press one of the sheets against the skin.

6. SET YOUR BASE

Setting powder application is dependent on the brushes you use. For under the eyes and around the nose, use a smaller brush, use a large brush for the other parts of the face.

Begin by applying foundation and concealer with a wet Beauty blender, but don't let it dry! To achieve the proper wet-dry bond, apply setting powder to still-sticky foundation and concealer as soon as possible.

Swipe your setting powder brush or velvet puff into it and tap it to remove any excess. Before you apply it to your skin, make sure it's evenly covered. Next, press it into your face to avoid moving your makeup during the application process.
TIPS
  1. If your foundation matches you, use a translucent setting powder
  2. If you want to brighten your complexion while correcting tone and redness use coloured or tinted powders.
  3. To remove excess powder, mist your face with water or facial mist.
  4. If your powder appears too heavy, use a setting spray on top, setting sprays help to lift makeup and dry to a natural finish.
  5. Because product is always denser the first place it is applied to the face, starting on the forehead, nose, and chin, where people tend to get the shiniest, is beneficial.
  6. In general, powder must be applied at the close of an application; however, if you want to set certain things, you can use it throughout the application.

7. CREATE DIMENSION

Apply a small amount of liquid/powder highlighter.

Pay attention to the 'high' points of your face that the sun would normally hit. The most realistic dimension is achieved by applying highlighter above the cheekbones, by the brow arch, and down the nose bridge and blending thoroughly. If you're a beginner, a powder highlighter is the best option.

Dip your brush in the powder and tap it to remove any excess powder before applying. Then, gently glide it over the points you wish to highlight.
TIPS
  1. To enhance your eyes, apply highlighter to the inner corners of the eyes.
  2. To enhance your brow, concentrate on the area just below your brows as this will catch a lot of light. Keep the majority of your highlighter on the brow bone's outer edges.
  3. For the lips dab a little highlighter on the center of your upper lip (cupid's bow) Apply a small amount of highlighter with your fingertip to this area. Apply the highlighter to the area just above your lip, not your actual lip.
  4. For your chin, sweep highlighter onto the center of the chin as this will help draw attention to your lips. Do not apply too much highlighter. Keep your chin highlighter in line with your forehead highlighter.
  5. Highlight the tops of your cheekbones with highlighter.
  6. Take a blush brush or a kabuki brush and use it to apply a bit of highlighter from your temples to the tops of your cheekbone in a C-shaped curve. Apply blush first to the apples of your cheeks, and then begin to apply highlighter where the blush has stopped.
  7. Add a small dab onto the tip of your nose, move your finger back and forth to blend.
  8. Glide some highlighter down the center of your forehead towards the bridge of your nose to enhance the center of your forehead.
  9. Apply a small amount of blush to the apples of your cheeks if you think your face looks a little wan without some pink color. Make sure to thoroughly blend the blush with the other products on your face.

Apply a small amount of Contour.

Draw a line from the top of your ear to the tip of your nose, ending right where your eye begins. Make the line as precise and sharp as possible. Blend the product up as this will help lift your features.

To draw attention to the hairline, if you want to lengthen your face, apply the product along both sides of your hairline and draw a short line on your temples, right where your brows end.

If you want to shorten your face, apply your contour in an upside-down "U" shape across the top of your hairline and skip the lines on the temples. For the jawline draw short lines along your jaw's angles. Using a beauty blender, blend all of the contour lines into your skin.

8. EYE MAKEUP

EYESHADOW

  1. Without the proper tools, it is much more difficult to create a masterpiece. A large shadow brush is ideal for applying a thin layer of natural-looking color to your eyelids. A medium brush gives you more coverage. Color intensity and precision are best achieved with a small brush. Angle brushes are best for lining and adding detail.
  2. Select three eyeshadows that are identical in hue but different in shade. To make smooth, appealing transitions with your eyeshadow.
  3. To avoid smudging, use a tapered precision eyeshadow brush. Dab it lightly on the eyeshadow and tap off the excess.
  4. Create depth in your crease, apply the darkest of the three colors you've chosen to the outside corner of your eyelid, just above your top lashes, with a clean eyeshadow brush. Then, apply the color to your crease, this makes your eyes pop.
  5. Apply the middle shade to your entire eyelid with a different brush. This should blend the light and dark colors together in a smooth, fluid manner.
  6. Blend everything together with a small, soft brush to complete your color transition.
EYELINER AND MASCARA

To line your eyes, you can use liquid eyeliner, pencil eyeliner, or eyeshadow. If you want to look edgy and concise, or if you want to open up your eyes more, use liquid eyeliner. If you want a softer or smokier look, use pencil eyeliner.

If this is your first time applying eyeliner, a standard pencil eyeliner will be easier to use. These are more tolerant if you have wobbly hands or are just starting out and make mistakes.

There are two basic ways to apply eyeliner for beginners. One method is to begin by drawing dots along the upper lid. You simply connect the dots after you have made them.

The second simplest method is to begin in the center of the upper lid and trace a line outward. After that, you start toward the inside corner of your eye and work towards the center in small, even strokes until you've done the upper lid.
TIPS
  1. Tilting your head back and looking into the mirror is a frequent approach to apply eyeliner. This technique, your eyes are half closed, exposing your eyelid, yet partially open, allowing you to view it.
  2. For a cat eye look, Just add two more lines to the one you started with on the upper eyelid. Extend this line until the corner lines up with the tip of your brow. Return it to its original position and lightly line the outside part of your lower lid. For this crisp appearance, liquid and gel liners often produce the finest results.
  3. If you're using eyeshadow instead of liner to line your eyes, wet a small precision brush tip and dab it in the color before you begin.
  4. For the most realistic-looking method that replicates your natural hair, use a pencil. If you want to fill up sparse areas, use brow powder. Finally, when you need to keep untamed brows in place, reach for the brow gel.
  5. Use an eyelash curler to curl your lashes. Curling your lashes will make them look longer and more dramatic.
  6. Finally, apply mascara. Mascara helps to open up your eyes by lengthening your lashes. You may get this look by applying black, dramatic mascara to either the top or both eyelids. Make every effort to keep your mascara from sticking. Use no more than two coats to avoid clumping.

9. LIP MAKEUP

If you're going to use a lip primer, prep your lips beforehand. Then, using your lip liner, outline your mouth. By lining slightly over your lips, you may contour and create the appearance of a fuller pout. Fill in your lips with your liner next. Apply your lipstick over this as an outline.
TIPS
  1. First hydrate your lips by applying a coat of lip balm, it will form a coating on your lips, retaining moisture for a longer amount of time and protecting your lip skin from all sorts of weather. Leave it on for as long as possible before putting on lipstick.
  2. The next critical step is to conceal the first lip contour with foundation. Following that, redraw the lip edges using a lip pencil in the lipstick colour. This will produce a contour that will hold the lipstick in place and allow you to reapply it quickly and easily.
  3. Next apply lipstick and define, don't worry if the lipstick extends over the lip line in certain spots; simply wipe the borders with a lip brush and concealer.
  4. When it comes to blush and vivid lipstick, little is more. Use a blush in the same color family as your lipstick and apply it lightly.
  5. If you want your lips to seem pouty, apply a bit lighter lipstick to the middle of your top and lower lips than to the margins.
  6. Place a dot of gloss in the center of your top and lower lips, alone or over lipstick, and push your lips together. You won't have glop on the sides.
  7. A dab of concealer or two coats of lip liner around the lips prevents lipstick from moving or seeping into fine wrinkles.
  8. Overdraw your lips in one location (Cupid's bow, bottom lip) using a pencil that matches your lipstick - accentuating a specific region looks natural.
